Vacancy: Field Service Technician for Power Gensets
 
Summary: Servicing and repairing of Perkins engines

Gensets Technician Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform troubleshooting and complete repair on engines within a reasonable and expected time frame while maintaining an acceptable level of quality workmanship.
  • Understand and complete various shop paperwork, including time reports and work order reports.
  • Participate in keeping shop area clean at all times, and/or keep company vehicle clean and in good repair at all times.
  • Properly maintain and interpret various product/service information sources including parts microfiche, service manuals and product support bulletins.
  • Successfully complete on a timely basis all Perkins required training courses.
  • Continually improve upon mechanical ability by home study course, service parts topics, and other schools and training offered by the company.
  • Assist in mentoring and training of apprentice service technicians.
  • Assist customers as necessary
  • Provide assortment of hand tools needed to do repairs, as well as basic electrical/electronic meters.
  • Must be able to perform most repair jobs and operate most machine tools with minimum supervision.
  • May be sent to the field to perform work for which they are qualified.
  • Must be capable of maintaining reasonable performance standards.

Requirements for Gensets Technician Job
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • 5 - 8 years’ experience as a qualified Mechanic 1st Class with basic theoretical and practical knowledge required for the repair of diesel engines, preferably Perkins & Stamford alternators.
  • Must be able to perform most repair jobs and operate most machine tools in the shop with minimum supervision
  • Certified on all current Perkins diesel and Natural Gas Automotive and Industrial engines is a plus
  • Must be able to install Perkins engines and generators both mobile and stationary
  • Must be able to contact customers in a diplomatic workmanlike manner and submit complete written reports of jobs.
