Profile Introduction: Our client, a leading local Investment company in Nairobi, is seeking a self-driven individual to fill the position of General Manager. 
The successful candidate will oversee the management of the investment firm, design and continuously improve operation systems while driving business development initiatives. 
The GM will also oversee the financial reporting and facilitate members’ and Board participation and communication.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

A. Investment Management
  • Manage existing investment portfolio and continuously monitor market trends making the necessary recommendations to the board;
  • Research on viable investment opportunities and evaluate the risk factors;
  • Manage, support and supervise the acquisition of new projects;
  • Represent the company in AGM’s of investee companies; and
  • Develop business plans, annual budgets and sales/targets with the Managing Director and Board.
B. Project Management
  • Developing comprehensive project work plans and budgets; and
  • Coordinate implementation of the project plans and management of all Client SLAs.
C. Board Coordination and Effectiveness
  • Coordinating Board Secretariat;
  • Execute board decisions in a timely manner; and
  • Build and maintain excellent relationship rapport with directors and shareholders.
D. Marketing
  • Develop and manage member and client communication
  • Proactively engage in Product Development and Innovation of services; and
  • Initiate and execute marketing strategies;
E. Administration
  • Oversee all operations; 
  • Lead all Event Management initiatives such as site visits, meetings, retreats, AGM’s, cocktails etc;
  • Provide training and support to team leaders focusing on development of Business Development skills; and
  • Main contact person with all third parties (Ministry of Lands officials, surveyors Local Authorities & Government agencies among others).
Minimum Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in a Business or Arts field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, 3 of which must be in a managerial position with working experience in managing Board of Directors; Masters degree will be an added advantage;
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with a good appreciation of finance and marketing; with ability to generate and interpret financial reports;
  • Demonstrates hands on experience of Project Management;
  • Understands Investments, Asset & Real Estate Management;
  • Demonstrable experience in office administration/management; and
  • Willingness to travel and spend considerable amount of time outside the office, which may include locations outside the Nairobi office.
