Terms of Reference for Internship into the training and backstopping grain warehouse operators in South Sudan
The Eastern Africa Grain
Council (EAGC) is a private sector membership organisation of the
players in the grain value chain whose mission is to advocate for an
enabling environment and promote structured grain trade for optimum
stakeholder benefits.
The overall goal is to
contribute to poverty reduction and enhanced food security by applying
market- based interventions to stimulate agricultural productivity,
trade and growth, particularly in the smallholder grain sector in ten
countries in Eastern and Southern Africa.
In December 2014, EAGC
was contracted by GIZ to provide training and backstopping services to
selected grain warehouse operators in the Greenbelt (Western Equatoria,
Central Equatoria and Eastern Equatoria).
The services are expected
to enable warehouse operators, who include farmer organisations,
traders, Business Development Service (BDS) providers or
Non-governmental Organisations to professionally operate warehouses in
the grain bulking and marketing systems and ultimately transforming into
Agri-Business Centres.
The first training of the warehouse management is set to take place on 22nd June to 3rd July 2015 in Yei and Yambio.
These ToRs are drawn to
engage South Sudanese nationals as interns for an initial period of

warehouse operators.
The specific tasks to be undertaken by the interns will be:
- Participate in a TOT programme facilitated by EAGC structured Trade experts that will build their capacity to train farmers in the selected training modules,

- Participate in the training of the warehouse operators in different locations within the Greenbelt covering areas such as post-harvest handling, group governance, warehouse management, records keeping and financial management among others.
- Provide continuous backstopping to ensure trained warehouses adopt the practices and the business models trained through regular visits, phone calls
