Role Summary: Performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks related to maintaining flowers, shrubs, and trees and coordinating them into designs.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

• Installs, and maintains annual and perennial beds, grass, shrubbery and trees.
• Supervises and directs grounds personnel by establishing schedules, assigning tasks,
• Monitoring and reviewing projects to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Applies biological pest control and fertilizers complying company rules and policies
• Monitors and records the application of pest control
• Plans unit activities and decides priorities; assists in implementing policies and procedures and enforcing rules and regulations.
• Coordinates the activities between the maintenance departments and management.
• Confers with others in the industry about new plants and ideas.
• Maintains the cleanliness of assigned areas by mechanical or hand methods.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

• Knowledge of gardening techniques.
• Knowledge of pesticide use and safety techniques.
• Knowledge of related county and national government laws and regulations.
• Supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, use of Indesign and illustrator would be an added advantage.

Reporting Relationships:
 

i. Direction Received: Reports to the operations manager.
 

ii. Direction Given: Functional guidance over junior staff.

Working Conditions: Moderate physical effort involving lifting, carrying, and bending and routine discomfort from exposure to less than optimal temperatures and air conditions.
